Wireless Temperature And Humidity Monitoring, Installed Without Cabling Works
Nobody budgets for cable trunking. A quality manager who has just been told the ambient store needs documented temperature control is usually working inside a leased unit, with a landlord reinstatement clause, a facility that cannot stop running, and an audit date already in the calendar. Wireless monitoring exists for exactly that situation, and it goes in over a weekend.

What Wireless Temperature Monitoring Singapore Facilities Get
A wireless temperature monitoring system uses battery powered sensors that measure at the point you care about and transmit to a gateway, which forwards the record to a secure platform. There is no cable run to the sensor, so an installation that would take a week of contractor time takes hours, and the sensor can be moved when the space is reconfigured.
The measurement itself is not a compromise. The sensor logs locally, so the record survives a dropped connection or a power cut and uploads when the link returns. That is the difference between a wireless monitoring system and a consumer smart sensor: the data lives at the point of measurement first, and the dashboard second.
Asia GMP designs, supplies, installs and commissions these systems for pharmaceutical, healthcare, food and HVAC sites in Singapore, and recalibrates the sensors afterwards from our own laboratory here.
Radio Frequency Or Wi-Fi, And Which Your Site Should Use
Both are wireless and they fail in different places. Radio frequency sensors run on a dedicated network with their own gateway, which keeps the monitoring system independent of your corporate IT and gives better penetration through cold room insulation and metal racking. Wi-Fi sensors use infrastructure you already have, which is cheaper to start and depends on your network staying up.
For a regulated cold chain, radio frequency is usually the right answer. A cold room is a metal box, and the one place a Wi-Fi sensor is most likely to drop is the place it matters most. For ambient office adjacent storage, server rooms and sites where IT already runs well managed access points, Wi-Fi is sensible and faster to deploy.
Radio frequency sensors for cold rooms, chillers, walk in freezers and ultra low temperature freezers
Wi-Fi sensors for ambient storage, server rooms and HVAC critical space
Temperature only, or combined temperature and relative humidity on the same sensor
External probes where the sensor body cannot sit inside the measured space
Gateway redundancy on sites where a single point of failure is unacceptable
Humidity Monitoring On The Same Sensor
Relative humidity monitoring matters more in Singapore than most specifications admit. Ambient pharmaceutical storage held at 15 C to 25 C commonly carries a humidity limit alongside it, stability chambers are defined by both, and in food and electronics the humidity excursion usually arrives before the temperature one. Our combined sensors measure to 100% RH on the same device, the same platform and the same report.

Why Buyers In Singapore Choose Asia GMP For Wireless
Asia GMP has worked in temperature control for the life science industry since 2009, with a management team carrying more than 30 years in the cold chain industry. The company is ISO 9001 certified by SOCOTEC Certification International under UKAS Management Systems 0063.
What tends to decide it is what happens after the install. Sensors are recalibrated in our own Singapore laboratory on a three working day turnaround, with loan instruments available so your record does not break while yours are with us. Nothing is shipped overseas. When a gateway stops reporting on a public holiday, the engineer who commissioned it is in Singapore.
Wireless sits alongside wired systems on our temperature monitoring page, feeds the same hardware range as our temperature data loggers, and is the system most often specified for warehouse and facility monitoring. You can see the full range at Asia GMP or reach our Customer Care Officer on +65 6742 4912.
Frequently Asked Questions
How reliable is wireless temperature monitoring compared with a wired system?
For the measurement itself there is no difference, because the sensor logs locally and the record is complete whether or not the link is up at that moment. The difference is in coverage. A radio frequency network with a correctly sited gateway is reliable through cold room walls and metal racking. A Wi-Fi sensor depends on your network, which is why we run a radio survey where coverage is in doubt.
How long do the sensor batteries last?
Typically one to several years depending on reporting interval, temperature and sensor type, with ultra low temperature installations at the shorter end because battery chemistry slows in the cold. The platform reports battery status per sensor, and we replace batteries at the annual recalibration so there is a single planned intervention rather than a surprise.
Can wireless sensors be installed in a cold room without shutting it down?
Yes, in most cases. Installation is normally scheduled outside operating hours and a sensor mount does not require the space to be emptied or the plant to be stopped. Where a sensor has to sit inside a sealed chamber or a freezer in continuous use, we use an external probe and site the sensor body outside.
Do wireless monitoring records satisfy GDP and HSA requirements?
The system is built to support them. Records carry an audit trail, access control and attributable user accounts, and reporting is aligned to FDA 21 CFR Part 11, EU Annex 11, ICH and GxP expectations. An assessor will also ask for current calibration certificates covering the period and evidence that alarms were acknowledged, which is why both are part of the installation.
What happens when the gateway loses internet connection?
Sensors continue measuring and storing readings locally. When the connection returns the stored readings upload and backfill, so the record has no gap. The platform flags the outage itself so it is visible in the audit trail rather than silently absent.
Can I start with a few sensors and expand later?
Yes. The same platform runs from a single sensor to several thousand across multiple sites and time zones, so a clinic adding one fridge and a distributor adding a second warehouse use the same system. Adding a sensor does not require a new gateway unless you move out of range.
Do you calibrate the wireless sensors, or does that go back to the manufacturer?
We calibrate them here. Temperature and humidity calibration runs in our own Singapore laboratory with a three working day turnaround, and we can supply loan instruments so your monitoring continues. Nothing is shipped overseas, which is the usual reason a recalibration takes weeks.
The practical consequence is that you do not run two systems. One sensor, one calibration event, one export when somebody asks for the record. Where the humidity reading itself has to be defensible, it is calibrated alongside the temperature channel through our calibration services rather than assumed accurate because the display shows a number.
Alarms, Escalation And The Two In The Morning Problem
Alarms are configured per sensor with their own limits, a delay threshold so a routine door opening does not trigger a callout, and an escalation chain that moves to a second and third contact when the first does not acknowledge. Alerts arrive by SMS, email and app. The record of who was alerted, when, and whether they acknowledged is part of the audit trail.
This is where most installations are won or lost. A system that alerts into a shared inbox nobody reads at the weekend is a compliance document, not a control. We set the escalation list with you during commissioning, write it into the handover pack, and review it again at the first recalibration, because the person on the list has usually changed role by then.
Where Wireless Goes In
-
Pharmaceutical and medical device cold rooms, chillers and ambient stores
-
Vaccine, biologic and reagent refrigerators in clinics and laboratories
-
Walk in freezers and ultra low temperature freezers down to -80 C
-
Food importer and distributor chillers, blast freezers and preparation areas
-
Stability and climatic chambers, incubators and ovens
-
Server rooms, switch rooms and HVAC critical space
-
Leased premises where cabling or reinstatement is a problem
If the space has never been mapped, a temperature mapping study comes first. Sensor placement decided without one is an educated guess, and an assessor will ask how the positions were chosen.
Installation, Commissioning And What You Are Left Holding
Installation runs in four stages and the documentation is the deliverable, not the hardware. We survey, design and quote. We install and commission, usually outside your operating hours. We qualify the installation and train your team. You are left with a sensor layout drawing, a commissioning record, the alarm escalation list, calibration certificates for every sensor, and a login that produces an export without anyone retyping a number.
